Restaurante Picheta stands out as a premier dining destination in Merida, offering not just exquisite cuisine but also breathtaking views, particularly of the Gran Plaza. The atmosphere is one of elegance blended with a warm, inviting charm, making it ideal for special occasions or simply a memorable night out.
Patrons have raved about the exceptional service, highlighting the attentive staff who ensure a seamless dining experience. However, it’s wise to secure a reservation, as the popularity of this restaurant often leads to full seats, especially for tables with the best views. Diners recommend the white fettuccine with shrimp—a dish that many describe as a dream. The green salad also garners praise, though some find the tacos less remarkable.
While the restaurant leans towards the pricey side, many reviews affirm that the quality of food and service justifies the cost. Reviews often note the cocktails as delightful accompaniments to the meal, and a well-managed response to varying weather conditions showcases their professionalism.
Overall, Restaurante Picheta is not just a meal; it’s an experience that combines stunning vistas, delicious food, and skilled service, ensuring it earns its place as a must-visit in Merida.

Tip: make your reservation ahead. Even 1 day earlier or the same day but do it before you go! We went there with a reservation and were seated to beautiful table !! After us, there was a group of 4 people WITHOUT reservation and were told that they cannot seat at the first row because they didn’t have a reservation AND THE TERRACE was pretty empty at that time. So do not miss this view! The white fettuccine with shrimps were something like a dream. Please try them!! The green salad with shrimps was very good as well. The tacos were good but not something extraordinary. The cocktails were tasty! It’s an expensive place but it worths! Also, they are every time ready for the rain. They gave us a number when seated and told us that in case of rain, we will move indoors. After 2 hours started the rain and everything worked perfect. Our table was with an amazing view this time as well. They are professionals. Try it!!

Such a beautiful place with the most amazing views. We had a great night. Service was a bit slow but we appreciated the time between courses. However, we would have appreciated more attention to our empty glasses. And although I think it was a fluke, my husband was served his cocktail with a bee floating in it. Yes, a bug! There was no apology, no compensation and zero remorse. I would have thought for a restaurant of that popularity they would have acknowledge that and apologized. That being said, I would go back in a heartbeat.

A fantastic location, providing a fabulous view of the Gran Plaza and perfect for a sunset drink. I enjoyed (several) glasses of Sangria alongside a delicious sundried tomato / olive tartare and a creamy lime risotto with beef cuts. It was a busy night with a large table of 15 or so, so I did have to make a few attempts to grab attention to order a drink / obtain cutlery. But they were quick to deliver the drink / cutlery / bill once requested. Would certainly return and have already recommended

One of the finest restaurants. From the entrance to the rooftop view, it is exceptional and the food sumptuous with an intriguing variety of options. With an inspiring atmosphere and fantastic service, it's more than worthy of the full 5 stars

Culinary delight 20.967709, -89.623656 You should look for the small entrance in the Plaza de la Independencia a.k.a. “Plaza Grande”, to the left of the Palacio de Gobierno del Estado de Yucatan. Behind the entrance, there are stairs to the dining room on the first floor (2F) and another staircase to the roof terrace on the second floor (3F). Picheta is a highly rated TripAdvisor restaurant in the centre of Merida. The roof terrace offers panorama views of the historic Plaza Grande, especially at night when the lights come on. A very romantic and luxurious place to dine. In December 2024, we chose to have cocktails at the bar before dinning. We ordered Margaritas (Mex180) as our first cocktail, followed by La Dona (Mex220) with chilli powder on the rim of the glass. Very tasty cocktails. At our table, we started with traditional soup de lima with turkey and toasted omelette (Mex160) and tuna toast with lime, avocado, cucumber, coriander, sesame oil and tortilla ashes (8 pieces) (Mex230). Both starters tasted fine with white house wine (Mex850 a bottle). As main courses, we ordered buttery-and-rosemary aged beef steak, saute of truffled mushrooms and tree spinach served with mashed potatoes (Mex540). The steak was perfectly prepared with lovely flavours and a fine texture. We finished this excellent diner with sweet milk caramel cake, vanilla ice cream from Papantla and red berries (Mex240) and hazelnut dacquoise with caramelised banana, pastry cream and salted caramel glaze (Mex210). Great way to finish an excellent dinner. Service was highly professional. English menu is available. Picheta sees itself at the heart of Yucatecan contemporary gastronomy with in-house and guest chefs creating unique dishes with local ingredients. Not cheap, but worth the culinary experience of local flavours. Highly recommended.
